Commity is an accountability app for iPhone and Android. You pin a place you want to show up at, like your gym or the library, put a small stake on it, and a GPS check-in proves you were there.

Commity is the app's name, not a typo of “community”. It is built around one idea: keep the commitments you make, alongside other people keeping theirs.

How it works

  1. Pin a place. Your gym, a library, a studio, anywhere you need to show up.
  2. Set the terms. Pick your days, how many minutes count, and how long you're in: 1, 2, 4, 8 or 12 weeks, or ongoing.
  3. Put money on it. Anything from $5 to $100.
  4. Check in when you arrive. Your phone's location has to confirm you're there before any minutes count.

Show up on every scheduled day and you pay $0. Miss one and the stake is charged, but a 5-day comeback wins back 51% of it on the free plan, or 66% with Premium. See every step in the app.

Who built it

Commity started with a problem its founder kept running into:

“I always had the will on Sunday night, but as soon as Monday morning came, it was ‘maybe next week.’ So I built Commity. Now missing a commitment has an instant consequence. Losing a couple of bucks gives you a ‘let's just do this’ feeling rather than the one where you just stay in bed.”

You can see the people using it on the community wall. Questions and feedback go to info@thecommity.com, and we read every message.
